LAKE MANYARA NATIONAL PARK
Lake Manyara National Park is a scenic and diverse destination located at the base of the Great Rift Valley. It is famous for its lush groundwater forest, alkaline lake, and unique tree-climbing lions. Despite its small size, the park offers a rich variety of wildlife and birdlife, making it a great introduction to Tanzania’s safari experience.
Visitors can enjoy game drives through forests, open plains, and lakeshore areas where they can see elephants, hippos, monkeys, and a variety of birds including flamingos. The park is also known for its tree-climbing lions. Other activities include bird watching, canoeing (when water levels allow), and cultural tours to nearby communities.
Best time to visit Lake Manyara
Lake Manyara can be visited throughout the year. The dry season (June to October) is best for wildlife viewing, while the wet season (November to May) offers lush scenery and excellent bird watching, especially for flamingos.
